Jump-starting the pool season is an exciting time for the whole family. If you run through our quick and easy checklist for opening your pool, your favorite vacation spot will be swim-ready in no time. As always, be sure to check with your Regal® professional for region-specific advice:

1. If the pool is covered, remove any debris and water from the cover. Use an approved cover cleaner to cleanse, deodorize and protect the cover. Store it in a cool, dry place to preserve it for the following season.

2. Remove leaves and debris with your leaf cleaner.

3. Empty the skimmer and pump strainer baskets.

4. Fill your pool to the manufacturer’s recommended level. 

5. Inspect or have a professional look at all equipment, including the pump, filter, heater, diving board, ladders and chlorinator. Be certain they are properly installed and operational.

6. Take a sample of your pool water to your authorized Regal dealer for a complete analysis. The dealer will provide you with detailed instructions to balance your pool water.

7. Shock the pool with a Regal shock treatment to remove all organic waste.

8. Add an initial does of Regal algaecide to prevent algae.

9. Prepare the entire pool with a Regal brand sanitizer recommended by your pool professional.

10. Run the filter system as recommended by the manufacturer. During this time, give the pool a thorough brush-down, working along the wall. Be sure to vacuum the pool bottom as well.
